Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA)

Functional​ ​Behavior​ ​Assessment​ ​(FBA)​ ​in-homes,​ ​day​ ​programs​ ​and​ ​the community settings​ ​include​ ​interview,​ ​records​ ​review,​ ​direct observation,​ ​and​ ​data​ ​collection​ ​methods​ ​to​ ​identify the​ ​function​ ​or​ ​“reason”​ ​a​ ​behavior​ ​problem​ ​occurs. Once​ ​a​ ​function​ ​has​ ​been​ ​identified,​ ​a​ ​treatment based​ ​on​ ​the​ ​results​ ​of​ ​the​ ​assessment​ ​is​ ​developed and​ ​implemented​ ​to​ ​decrease​ ​the​ ​problem​ ​behavior​ ​by replacing​ ​it​ ​with​ ​a​ ​socially​ ​appropriate​ ​behavior​ ​that serves​ ​the​ ​same​ ​function.
